Nick was born in Christchurch, New Zealand 20th April 1993. He was the third boy for parents Jenny and Chris. From an early age he was keen to make his mark. Competitive from the word go he was determined not to be left behind in the wake of his older brothers. He was fortunate to be introduced into many different sports and steered down the pathway as a competitive swimmer for a while.

But skiing was where he felt exhilarated and driven to succeed and soon he was training with the Team Hutt Race Team, learning the skills and technique and winning medals and trophies. His family loved skiing and they were lucky to share skiing trips to USA and Canada and this played a big part in shaping his love for the sport.

His first overseas training camp was to Morgins, Switzerland. From this camp he raced the Borrufa Cup in Andorra where he performed well and he soon realized that Alpine racing in Europe was like the All Backs to New Zealanders.

He finished his secondary schooling at Christchurch Boys’ High in 2010 and  completed a Bachelor of Commerce at Canterbury University studying Finance and Economics.
