Well, I have to start off this update with my recent success at the Winter Games GS at Coronet Peak. The conditions were great, given the snow situation down here at the moment.  Big ups to the Race crew for their massive efforts.

My pre race warm up finally started to feel better and that brought with it some confidence. My first run was pretty solid and I skied nicely into 10th. In the 2nd run the course started breaking up a little and the light was getting worse, but I went out and skied a fearless run, it wasn’t perfect but I was super happy to finish in 14th, claim some valuable ANC points and more importantly score my career best 18.70 point result!!

Now back to the start…

The Australian ANC’s were cancelled with a lack of snow, so instead I headed south to Wanaka, for the Wanaka Tech series… a really disappointing series for me. The slalom’s were really tough. At the Cardona GS’s I was expecting better performances. However I just couldn’t get my racing mode going.

It was a similar frustrating story at the Coronet Cup.

To date, I have been training really good slalom and now my feeling on the GS skis is starting to get back to my skiing at Mt Hutt earlier in the season, so it is exciting!

Tomorrow I will be racing the Winter Games Slalom and then head back up to Hutt for a week, and hopefully some speed training before returning south for our National Champs.

On a side note, Team mate- Willis Feasey and I got to experience a rope swing at the Shotover Canyon Swing for a media opportunity with the US Ski Team boys. It was an awesome adrenaline rush and it  was also good to get in some TV interviewing practice!!!

Here’s for some more positive racing :)
